b. Chicago, Illinois, 1970
Lynette McCarthy's work primarily focuses on the complexities of change and the psychological conditions of interpersonal relationships. She concentrates on matters that are part of her lived experience and, at times, directly involves her family.
Drawing on her other degrees in Architecture, Graphic Design, and Illustration, McCarthy develops highly-constructed and stylized cinematic scenes that depict unresolved moments suspended in a space that hang somewhere between a moment before or after.
McCarthy was awarded Best of Show for her work titled GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS at her premier photo exhibition in 2012, LUXE Gallery in San Diego, CA. In the same year, she also accomplished her first solo show at Elos Gallery, San Diego. Most recently, she was selected to participate in First Street Gallery's MFA National Juried Competition in New York City.
Lynette completed her MFA Photography degree at the University of Notre Dame in 2017 and is currently working as a fine art and commercial photographer in Chicago, Illinois.
